Hair and Sleep

Sorry I haven’t posted an update like I said I would. I think I have been sleeping better with the O2. Kenn said I am getting up less often. So far, I have been successful in not getting tangled in the supply tubing. Otherwise, we have had to kick the dogs out of the bedroom in order to keep the cats out. We’re pretty sure Gracie would chew the tubing. Luckily, it’s only while we are both gone that we have to keep everyone out of the bedroom.

I’m not crazy about these pictures, but tonight is the first time I have used any heat styling tools on my hair since I lost it in September of last year. Yes, it’s getting long, and yes, I’m planning to let it keep growing until it gets to about chin level, then I’ll try styling it some more.

Hair now

Just thought I’d post an updated pic of my hair growth. Yes, it is growing back in, grayer than ever, but I’m just happy to have it back. Although I would have loved some curls (just kidding, any hair is good hair).

I've got hair!

Time to reveal the hair. I stopped wearing beanies a week ago (except for cold days like the last couple of days). My last chemo was 12/29, so about 3.5 months to get to here.

A little update...

If you are in my Facebook group you've already seen this...

On the 26th, I had the air in my expanders replaced with saline today. I feel like I have breasts again! Yay team, I’m no longer flat!!!

The Turban Project

I don’t remember if I signed myself up for a package from an online group or if it came from someone else, but it has been amazing. I received 3 turbans/beanies, lightweight and very comfortable as well as the following items.

The angel is going to go on my Christmas tree so I can remember this fight each year and remember to be thankful for all the little things in life (as well as the bug things, like surviving cancer!!)

Here is their contact information:
    The Turban Project, www.turbanproject.com, turbanproject@outlook.com

I’m going to try to attach some pics of me in their turbans.

And here I am in one of the turbans/beanies. I don’t have any pics of me in the other ones yet.

Hair Woes

Well the day has arrived. This morning when I got out of the shower, my hair was uncharacteristically tangled. When I finally got the first tangle out, it came with a large clump of hair. Everything I read about hair loss said that it would happen about 2-3 weeks after the first chemo. For me it has hit exactly 14 days after my first chemo. Not sure how well you can see in this picture, but I combed my hair later in the day today and as you can see, the hair is still falling out at an alarming rate.

So, we are off on a new adventure of hats, scarves and turbans. I’ll take some pics to post here in the next few days or so.
